Founder’s Journey

From Construction Sites To Industrial & Maritime Leadership.

A career shaped by physical work, recovery, reinvention, maritime operations and industrial service in the Netherlands.

The founder behind DPS

Experience built in real environments.

My professional journey began at the age of 14, working in construction during school holidays in Portugal. Those early years taught me discipline, responsibility and respect for the people who keep projects moving.

At the age of 18, a serious motorcycle accident changed the course of my life. What followed were years of recovery, multiple surgeries and challenges that tested my determination and resilience. Rather than giving up, I rebuilt my path.

Over the following years I developed a career in maritime operations, port services, logistics coordination and vessel planning, working with international teams and complex operational environments.

Later, I moved to the Netherlands, returned to hands-on industrial work and expanded my experience within industrial cleaning, shutdown projects, confined spaces and safety-critical environments.

Foundations

Construction from a young age

The journey started in Portugal with hard construction work during school holidays. Heavy manual labour built discipline, resilience and respect for the people who keep projects moving.

Reinvention

Recovery and rebuilding

A serious motorcycle accident created a long and demanding recovery. That experience reinforced persistence, responsibility and the ability to find solutions when circumstances become difficult.

Maritime start

UECC and port agency

The maritime chapter began with crew coordination, travel arrangements, training coordination, port agency support and vessel attendance in Setúbal.

Growth

MacAndrews and CMA CGM

Responsibilities expanded into container operations, port coordination, cargo planning, cost optimisation and complex operational communication.

Netherlands

Shipyards and industrial sites

In the Netherlands, the journey returned to field work: shipyard environments, high-pressure cleaning, vessel maintenance and demanding industrial projects.

DPS

Independent industrial and maritime services

DPS was created as the next step: a professional, practical company built on experience, safety and responsibility.

Lessons From The Field

Principles shaped by real operations.

Safety Comes First

Every successful project begins with preparation, communication and respect for safety procedures.

Hard Work Builds Character

The lessons learned on construction sites continue to guide every project I take part in today.

Adaptability Creates Opportunities

From construction sites to ports and industrial facilities, success comes from being ready to learn, adapt and deliver.

“Understand the operation, take responsibility and find a better way to get the job done.”
